Slow Touchpad on Dell Inspiron 510m running Debian Etch

Fixing the irritatingly slow and finger numbing touchpad slowness ought to be the first thing to fix once you get Debian running. To do so, edit the xorg.conf file, setting the min and maximum and acceleration factor as shown below.

Option "MinSpeed" "0.5"
Option "MaxSpeed" "1.0"
Option "AccelFactor" "0.01"

Wi-fi on Debian Etch 4.0 R1

Well, after that fiasco with my laptop is over, I look back on the re-installation process to realise that getting my built-in Intel wireless adapter was pretty easy to set up from a clean, fresh installation of Debian Etch R1. Much easier than when I first did it before. Not much changed, only that I used the first update of Etch rather than the original release.

1) Check that ieee80211 and iwp2200 are installed. If not install it.
2) Download the firmware, from sourceforge, and copy it to /lib/firmware. Reboot and that was it!
